ECU-TEST is the software for automation tests used in the validation of embedded systems within the automotive industry. It can be used when designing, implementing, and evaluating different tests. It will generate intuitive test reports. To cover all stages of the right branch of the V-model, a wide variety of interfaces to other standard software tools used in the automotive industry are included in ECU-TEST. The user-friendly program interface allows the effective and productive testing of control unit software without any long software training. Due to parameterization, structuring and generic description, the generated test cases are mostly independent from specific test environments - hard- and software are, therefore, highly reusable.

Areas of Usage for ECU-TEST (shown with the V-Model)
ECU-TEST's modular architecture allows the easy adaptation and extension as well as the inclusion of existing test- and safeguard-processes. The included client/server architecture supports the communication with the test interfaces and software tools from several test management PCs used in a distributed test environment. In addition to the large number of already supported hard- and software test environments, new automation interfaces can be added to ECU-TEST over plug-ins and Python-scripts. For linking ECU-TEST with test management systems, like Mercury Quality Center, a COM-interface is provided.

The assembly and parameterization of the test cases is done with the GUIs of the editor and project manager. The configuration engine allows the selection of the desired settings and data for a test object and test environment. The multi-staged state machine executes the selected test(s) - the thereby collected test data is the basis for the generation of the test protocol by the protocol generator. |

Support for ECU-TEST is provided via phone or through on-site residents. Furthermore, we offer training courses for your test engineers. We will support you with the integration of ECU-TEST into your existing process chain and with the setup of solutions for testing and securing your control unit functions. For custom adaptations and the integration of other software (simulation, application, measurement, evaluation, or test management tools), we will readily implement customer specific extensions to ECU-TEST.
Our customers use ECU-TEST very successfully to safeguard the vehicle-specific distributed functions (from drive-shafts all the way to the vehicle periphery) in engineering as well as production. Some examples for the usage of ECU-TEST are emission reduction, adaptive maintenance intervals, and on-board diagnostics.
