ECU-TEST 5.1 released

The next version of ECU-TEST has been released. Highlights of the new version are:
Raw...

The next version of ECU-TEST has been released. Highlights of the new version are:
Raw diagnostics
The support for CAN hardware from PEAK and VECTOR has been extended by a diagnostics port for KWP2000 over ISO-TP. The new diagnostics port supports configuration and creation of arbitrary many diagnostic sessions. Asynchronous execution of diagnostic requests allows sending additional requests or executing other test activities in parallel. In order to use the new diagnostics port no further software besides the respective CAN hardware driver is required.
Signing and Protecting Packages
ECU-TEST has been extended by functions for signing packages and (implicitly) checking signatures. Having packages signed by their creator allows users to check the packages’ authenticity, i. e. to validate their integrity and origin. Furthermore the new protection functions can be used to prevent modification or inspection of packages (requires signing), which can be used for know-how protection. Signing and protection are based on asymmetric encryption. ECU-TEST provides respective functions for generation and import of keys.
Improved Test Management Connector
The package explorer of the new version allows to bind package folders to test plan folders in Quality Center as one would do in a version control system. This way, packages may be easily synchronized with their corresponding test plans using update and commit commands without having to do the same folder selection every time. Furthermore the commands for exporting and synchronizing packages support selection of multiple packages. And finally filter settings and preset values for mandatory test plan attributes can be chosen individually for each folder simplifying parallel work on different test projects.

Besides the large enhancements there are several small improvements that extend the range of features of ECU-TEST and simplify its use.
As examples we mention the test-step links (double-clicking messages in the messages window opens the respective package and selects the corresponding test step), the new tolerance type based on the number of significant decimal places, the verdict-sensitive no-report option for test steps or the function for commenting test steps in the test report. There are also two new tool connectors, one for accessing MORPHEE by D2T and one for accessing serial interfaces.

ECU-TEST 5.0 released

With the new major release of the standard solution for automated softwaretest of control units,...

With the new major release of the standard solution for automated softwaretest of control units, which is used worldwide, TraceTronic sets new standards. ECU-TEST 5.0 simplifies the work of all those who have to specify, implement, execute and evaluate test and thus makes it more efficient.
Highlights of the new major release are:
Parallel execution of test activities
This does not only allow parallelizing activities within a test but also provides a better structure for test cases with respect to different tasks. Besides asynchronous package calls, the test language extension includes means of synchronization and message exchange between interleaving test threads. A special test step for simultaneous monitoring of several event sources rounds off the new seamlessly integrated functionality.
Significantly revised trace analysis module
The new version supports virtual signals, which not always have to refer to recordings but can also be computed. Virtual signals can be analyzed and visualized in the same way as real signals. Using virtual signals it is easy to create reference signals or to compute signals missing in a recording but required for an analysis. Furthermore, derivations or characteristic quantities of real signals can be generated and thereby made available for an analysis or visualization. Together with the new basis library of trace step templates for qualitative and statistical analysis as well as for reference-signal generation, the user is equipped with a powerful analysis tool. The new features of the trace analysis module are completed by recording steps that allow exporting arbitrary signals into MDF and CSV files.
Direct support of CAN hardware by VECTOR and PEAK
Among the various new interfaces supported, the CAN hardware by VECTOR and PEAK needs to be particularly emphasized. Their native support allows reading and recording CAN signals and frames without additional tools.
Besides the large enhancements there are several small improvements that make the daily work easier and more efficient. They include the Favorites panel in the package explorer, the stack execution of test cases in the background, the optimized test-report view, and the significantly increased performance of automatic package-reference updating.

With a specially designed and manufactured, purely electrically operated race car they participate in the formula student electric competitions. The formula student is an international series of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), which exists for more than 25 years.
For this year’s car TraceTronic produced a driving dynamics module, which transforms the 3-achses acceleration values and 3-achses yaw rate to CAN. Based on this, several assistance systems shall be implemented in the new race car.
The car, which is named Areus, was presented on May 26, 2011 to the public.

Together with our partners from ITI and Hydrive Engineering, we will develop a validation framework to be used for construction and agricultural machines. As a consequence of the use of embedded systems and the increasing complexity of these systems, there is a significant demand for validation technologies in this industry. Therefore, the aim of this cooperation is to utilize our combined competencies to develop an innovative and dependable validation framework for the manufacture of building and agricultural machines. Synergy effects are created by the use of the simulation software SimulationX of ITI, the know-how in the sector of engine and software development for mobile work machines of Neubert Engineering and our software for test automation called ECU-TEST.
The European Regional Development Fund is supporting this project.
