ECU-TEST 5.1 released

The next version of ECU-TEST has been released. Highlights of the new version are:

Raw diagnostics

The support for CAN hardware from PEAK and VECTOR has been extended by a diagnostics port for KWP2000 over ISO-TP. The new diagnostics port supports configuration and creation of arbitrary many diagnostic sessions. Asynchronous execution of diagnostic requests allows sending additional requests or executing other test activities in parallel. In order to use the new diagnostics port no further software besides the respective CAN hardware driver is required.

Signing and Protecting Packages

ECU-TEST has been extended by functions for signing packages and (implicitly) checking signatures. Having packages signed by their creator allows users to check the packages’ authenticity, i. e. to validate their integrity  and origin. Furthermore the new protection functions can be used to prevent modification or inspection of packages (requires signing), which can be used for know-how protection. Signing and protection are based on asymmetric encryption. ECU-TEST provides respective functions for generation and import of keys.

Improved Test Management Connector

The package explorer of the new version allows to bind package folders to test plan folders in Quality Center as one would do in a version control system. This way, packages may be easily synchronized with their corresponding test plans using update and commit commands without having to do the same folder selection every time. Furthermore the commands for exporting and synchronizing packages support selection of multiple packages. And finally filter settings and preset values for mandatory test plan attributes can be chosen individually for each folder simplifying parallel work on different test projects.

Besides the large enhancements there are several small improvements that extend the range of features of ECU-TEST and simplify its use.
As examples we mention the test-step links (double-clicking messages in the messages window opens the respective package and selects the corresponding test step), the new tolerance type based on the number of significant decimal places, the verdict-sensitive no-report option for test steps or the function for commenting test steps in the test report. There are also two new tool connectors, one for accessing MORPHEE by D2T and one for accessing serial interfaces.
